Around The Lake

I wasn’t feeling all that great today so I thought I would take the day off of snowboarding. My day took me out with a drive around the lake.  Because I wasn’t feeling well, my day started late and at 12:30p.m. It was foggy out.  By the time I got to Emerald Bay, the fog had lifted and it was a beautiful sunny day!

Ephraim WI

This is the town of Ephraim, where I live during the warmer half of the year. Do I have to say why I keep coming back? This is what I get to see everyday. These are the photos that you will be seeing this summer as part of the 2010 Ephraim marketing campaign. I am honored!  Please come up and visit!

Door County Visitors Bureau, 2010 Guide

I just found out that the DCVB is going to use theses images in the 2010 Visitors Guide.
For the last three years, they have used some of the images that I submitted for their publication.  Every time I see my images printed in a Door County Publication, I feel honored to be one of the lucky ones to be capturing the beauty of Door County.

Shipyards of Door County

Shipyards of Door County

As a photographer, I get to do some pretty fun things.  One of my favorites is to fly!  The fall of 2008, I was told by my publishers at Door County Living, that we were going to be running a story on DC by air in the fall of 2009.  I jumped on that one and set up a few flights.  This is a shot of Bay Ship, one of the yards that Sturgeon Bay is well known for.

Egg Harbor Pumpkin Patch Fest

Egg Harbor Pumpkin Patch Fest

When the harvest comes in, it means Pumpkin Patch Fest.  Every year in early October, Egg Harbor hosts one of the final festivals for the season that brings out family fun for all.

Every season is different in Door County and I feel very lucky and privileged to be one that captures the fun and beauty of Door County.
In April, I will return to the County, lets see what’s going to happen next.

Fall in Door County

Fall on the Peninsula

Fall in Door County is a welcome sight. For locals, it’s a chance to get their bearings back from a crazy summer of balancing work schedules and businesses; for visitors, it’s a season that is often underestimated – until a drive through the peninsula reveals its relaxed pace, its unbelievable
colors, and a peace that seems almost too good to be true. Once you’ve experienced fall in Door County, it’s safe to say that you’ll try to come back as often as your schedule will allow.
Fall is my favorite season on the peninsula, and the only way I can really show that is to
showcase the quiet beauty of this particular season – a beauty that affects every nook of the county, from the farmlands of Southern Door to the tip of Washington Island. The fall fruit      harvest, the sunsets, the foliage – everything seems to come alive with a sort of unexpected beauty. I’ve been taking photographs here for 12 years, and, still, some of these sights catch me by     complete surprise.
Even though our county is a small resort area, I am always blown away by the variety of     landscapes on the peninsula and how they reflect the season. I feel a privilege in being able to seek out and shoot these scenes, knowing that I may be one of the few who witnesses them.
I have put together this book so that others may be able to look through my lens and see what fall on the peninsula means to me – and also gain a little bit of knowledge as to how I choose to capture it. Special thanks to Dave Eliot, Melissa Ripp, the crews of the Peninsula Pulse and Door County Living, and you! Without your continued support, none of this could happen.
I hope that you enjoy my photographic journey through an Autumn in the Door.
